After many years away from amateur radio, I am slowly adding back equipment. I had sold all of my radios and I gave away antennas, and station accessories, that weren’t homebrew. Given my current QTH (place of residence), I am limited on the types and numbers of antenna’s I can deploy. As I live inContinue reading “Rebuilding my station”

Today
It remains dark, gloomy, and cool. Rain is falling. There is refuge inside with work. And a bit of radio today. Using DMR and my VHF/UHF radio to chat on the repeaters. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the day
Alinco Programming Error
I started messing with my Alinco codeplug. Now of course I can’t get into my hot spot. All values look right. The radio kinda…reset. The Brandmeister/hot spot still looks good. Had to take a break after hitting a wall. Will refresh, read more info. Then logically approach it again. 🙂 73 de KD8FTH
VHF/UHF Station
I have been enjoying using DMR again. I plan to setup on the TGIF DMR servers soon. That will require a new codeplug. I was able to order a dual band VHF/UHF mobile radio to play with. The AnyTone AT-778 UV. It provides 25 watts of power. And it is very affordable at around $125-132.Continue reading “VHF/UHF Station”
DMR
I have recently located my DMR hotspot. Which uses the internet to link you to a digital amatuer radio network. This network consists of these internet nodes as well as digital rf repeater links. It makes contact globally effortless. Just one of the many useful, fun aspects of our hobby. 73 KD8FTH
CW Key

My Alinco DJ-MD5 144/440 DMR HT radio. My Former HF Rig Icom IC-746 Pro. Which was sold December 2021. Looking for a new HF rig now. Also, my very modest 144/440 mag mount antenna used with the Alinco, indoors. Allows for local repeaters. 73 KD8FTH Ron

Learning
I am still learning the exciting world of Morse Code. What a true art form. One, I may never fully master. But, a joy nonetheless. I have most of the letters and all of the numbers in memory. Associating the dihs and dahs with them. Practicing receiving the code around 10-13 wpm is the greatestContinue reading “Learning”
About Time
The struggle as it is said, is real. Learning something new can present a few challenges. Challenges I am embracing…finally. A new language. A new way to communicate, is kinda awesome. I have been interested in learning morse code for about 34 years. Now, it is becoming a reality. No more excuses, or just plainContinue reading “About Time”
